Prayer changes things

Prayer changes things
All of us have gone through tough situations at one time or another. Sometimes it is hard to keep a smile on your face or hold your head up. It is in those times we need someone to encourage us and tell us we will make it through and one day we will look back and it will only be a memory. Sometimes when there is no one there to encourage us, we have to encourage ourselves with the Word of God.

When it looks scary and we don’t know where to turn. We have to stand on the Word of God to encourage and remind us where our strength comes from.

Psalms 27:1

The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? (KJV)

Read 1 Samuel which talks about David hiding in a cave and being joined by 600 men who sought him out but later when things went bad and their camp was raided and their wives and children taken they turned on him. Can you imagine how David must have felt?

1 Samuel 30:6-8

Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God. (NKJV)
That’s right when things were bad and none of his people were there to encourage him, he had to encourage himself by standing on the strength of God and His word.

Memorize this scripture to help you in tough times.

Romans 8:28

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. (NKJV)

When we go through tough times in our life, we need to be encouraged that God is still with us. We have to remember that God has a plan and He will bring us through if we stand strong standing on the solid foundation of His Word.

Isaiah 54:17

No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD. (KJV)

We need to pray without ceasing. It might look like your prayer is not being answered but don’t stop praying. Keep seeking His face and standing on His word which will continue to encourage you.

The children of Israel cried out to God for 400 years and in the appointed time He answered and got them out of slavery.
What has you bound or enslaved today – are you praying to God about it? Are you asking him for wisdom or you looking into the Word He left us to find answers?

Don’t get discouraged – that’s a weapon of the enemy trying your faith.
The enemy tested Job’s strength but he didn’t waiver and remained strong and in the end he was rewarded.

The enemy tested Jesus’ strength – so you know he is going to tempt you and me over and over again. We have to give him the words that Jesus spoke –
Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God!

I know sometimes you want to give up and throw in the towel – then what?
If you are sick... are you going to just accept it?
If you are having financial difficulty ….
If you are having relationship problems….
If you have family problems…..

Prayer changes things – don’t give up!

You might not see a way out right now, but just stay encouraged that God is working it out in your favor. God has a plan. He can turn the impossible into the possible. God can turn no into yes. God has all power!

When the children of Israel got to the Red Sea there back was against the wall. The Egyptian soldiers were behind them and the Red Sea was in front of them. They did not see any way out so they were willing to give up and throw themselves at the mercy of the soldiers which we know was not going turn out good. But God worked it out because he had a plan for them and had made a promise to them.

If you are being obedient to God’s word, He has made a promise to you too… to never leave you nor forsake you.

So when your back is against the wall and you have done all you can do just stand on the word of God, square your shoulders, strengthen your faith by remembering God’s promise and bow your knees in prayer thanking Him for his goodness, mercy and favor acknowledging that you are a victor and not a victim.

God Bless!
